The Chart Don't Lie

Well, it looks as if the latest British export to cross over on the American charts is James Blunt. James comes off sounding like he's trying to make early-era Elton John tunes. Either that or songs that may have fit nicely on a late '90s WB television show. But in 2005, it just sounds totally bland.

At any rate, he's signed to Linda Perry's Custard label. Maybe she went down on whomever's doing programming at Clear Channel, because "You're Beatiful" jumps into the Top 40 this week at #22.

In other distressing news, Mimi's totally inane piece of shite ballad "Don't Forget About Us" moves up to #2, ensuring that she'll be taking many more champagne bubble baths into the new year.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Run It!" - Chris Brown
2. "Don't Forget About Us" - Mariah Carey
3. "Laffy Taffy" - D4L
4. "Grillz" - Nelly Feat. Paul Wall, Ali & Gripp
5. "Photograph" - Nickelback
6. "Gold Digger" - Kanye West Ft. Jamie Foxx
7. "Stickwitu" - Pussycat Dolls
8. "When I'm Gone" - Eminem
9. "My Humps" - The Blackeyed Peas
10. "Because Of You'" - Kelly Clarkson
