Corbin Bleu Pushes iTunes To The Limit

I wanted to post MoogaBoo and mine's top tunes of the year before today, but time has escaped me and I'm off to the mountains of Idyllwild, CA for the weekend. So instead, I'll put that list up on Christmas Day.

This could well be the first surprise hit of 2007, as the EP it's on is already the top download on iTunes. It's Corbin Bleu, second banana from High School Musical, with his new song "Push It To The Limit."

Is it me or does this song not suck as much as it has every right to? Corbin is the lead in the Disney Channel movie Jump In!, which airs on January 12. This early-90s-sounding pop/R&B number is from the soundtrack, plus it'll be on his forthcoming album, Another Side.

And here's the imdb.com description for Jump In!:

Story revolves around a young boxer, Izzy Daniels (Corbin Bleu), who trains to follow in his father's footsteps by winning the Golden Glove. When his friend, Mary (KeKe Palmer), however, asks him to substitute for a team member in a Double Dutch tournament, the young man discovers a hidden passion for jump roping.

Gotta love how these hit Disney Channel movies are all allegories for jocks turning gay.

I'm thrilled that Corbin Bleu has kept that hairstyle (even if it does make him look young), and any song that lends itself to a dance routine like that gets my approval! I'm not sure what my thoughts on it would be without seeing the video, though.

January 12, huh? That means I'll probably end up missing it, but I think otherwise I'd make an effort to watch it.

Okay. Several things come to mind:

    1) Corbin Blue sounds like a gay porn website name.
    2) The video looks like it was choreographed by MC Hammer.
    3) The whole thing reeks of the Fame TV series circa the Janet and Nia Peeples era when no one watched it.
    4) He smiles too much.
    5) His clothing is crotchcentric.
    6) A hidden passion for JUMP ROPING?
    7) This is geared toward tweenies, yes?
    8) You keep Corbin and I'll keep Lily. Corbin will want a danceoff and Lily will do a smackdown.

I don't dispute that Lily would win anything where smack is involved.

PG, I kinda like Corbin's wig pulled back like that. He should chop it off and come out of the closet already.

This is a great kids movie and Corbin Bleu is a great role model, it is amazing how you jealous people cannot stand to see someone else succeed.

Sounds like there is a lot of jealousy here. This is a kids movie on Television, the Disney Channel, not Gone with the wind! Corbin Bleu is a very talented young man and it is sad that so many people cannot stand to see someone else succeed.
