Robbie Williams vs. Ashley Hamilton: Exactly Who Wrote "She's Madonna"?
The writing credits for the supposed next single from Robbie Wiliams -- "She's Madonna" -- list Robbie, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe.

However, Ashley Hamilton, one-time actor and former husband of Shannen Doherty, is claiming that he wrote the song with Williams years ago. He actually co-wrote Robbie's 2003 single "Come Undone," and the two were apparently friends at one point, so the claim does have some foundation. But now The Ham is threating legal action against Robbie. This could explain why a release date for "She's Madonna" has yet to be set.
It could also explain the supposed harrassing barrage of phone calls and text messages Robbie's been leaving Hamilton -- reportedly calling him at one point 10 times in 24 hours. Here's what Ashley told London's Daily Mirror about the whole "She's Madonna" drama:
"We came up with this idea over coffee one afternoon and worked on the lyrics together."
"The next thing I know, a producer's ringing me up to say congratulations for getting my song on Robbie's record. I didn't know what he was talking about!"
"I was shocked. When you work with someone, you're legally entitled to a share of the publishing."
"I have demos of the tape and will see him in court if I have to. I just want him to be a man and do the right thing."
Meanwhile, Robbie has said he wrote the song after seeing Madge perform at the 2006 MTV Europe awards. His spokesperson maintained to the paper, "'She's Madonna' is a collaboration between Robbie and the Pet Shop Boys."

ooo i love a good cat fight! I can see Robbie being a bit sneaky but not the pet shop boys... didn't Ashley co-write Come Undone and Robbie c0-wrote Ashley's single Wimmin? We all know who got the better deal there...

Its all money at the end of the day. I dont see why they are fighting over it. I'd distance myself away from it biiiiiiiig time.

The video should be something to look forward to. Apparently Alexis Arquette is starring in it and it has Robbie in drag.
Not sure about the Hamilton allegations. This rumour was started when the album came out. Even if there's truth behind it, Ashley won't get rich as this single certainly won't do much better than its predecessor.
I bet this will peak at no. 14 in the singles chart.

Mobius, Yeah, the video also stars some local L.A. drag queens -- Jackie Beat and Momma. Knowing those hookerz, I have a feeling the egos that had landed weren't Robbie's on the day of the video shoot.
RobPop, money, as they say, changes everything. Paul, I'm curious about "Wimmin".... I imagine it's bordering on bigtime suckfest, though.

There was a rather good (!) D-Bop mix of Wimmin'.

Mr. Brady sent me the D-Bop mix of Wimmin' back in the day and indeed it is a catchy corker. Robbie W's influence is quite obvious in the lyrics, which are basically, "I like women! Women, women, women! All day long! Really! I love them! I'm not gay at all! If I was gay, would I say I love women this much? No!!"
I've recently been watching some Take That videos for the first time and I just have to say -- Robbie was an annoying hambone even back then. I feel bad that an entire country was duped into thinking he was interesting.

Robbie is a bit sneaky but I agree with Paul - PSB give credit where credit is due and wouldnt dupe anyone out of any royalties. Im sure if it goes to court there wont be much money to be made.
Having said that it could Robbie's way of promoting- starting a controversy. What next? Allegations of him being a homosexual!?

I seem to remember an interview with the PSB a few months ago where they talked about how they were amazed how Robbie worked and came up with ideas quickly. Certainly it would be easier to do that if you already wrote the bulk of the song in advance...
