Succeeding Where Lily Allen Failed Miserably, Amy Winehouse Scores A U.S. Hit

Amy Winehouse's single "Rehab" has been around for so long that its entry into the Top 10 of Billboard's Hot 100 (let alone the Top 40) feels somewhat anti-climactic. "Rehab" peaked at #7 in the U.K. way back in October last year. Nevertheless, she's proven to be England's breakout star this year here in the States, trouncing peers like that one-trick rat Lily Allen and wishy-washy Mika. Anyway, kudos to Amy. Let's hope she's knocking back an aquarium full of gin somewhere in celebration. Or at least buying a new wig.

That brings us to little cherub Miley Cyrus, who as her title character on Disney's Hannah Montana has the Hot Shot Debut on the Hot 100 this week at #28 with "Nobody's Perfect." This is one of those cases where the song will probably drop like an anvil next week after getting no airplay, but "Nobody's Perfect" is likely one of the most over-produced guilty pleasure pop singles you'll happen upon this year. And, hey, at the very least, it's just another broad who did better than Lily Allen. That alone should at least warrant a listen.

The last single worth noting this week is Enrique Iglesias' "Do You Know (The Ping Pong Song)", which breaks out of it's three-week holding pattern at #33 and finally moves up a bit, albeit to #30.

Over on the Top 200 Albums, T-Pain, Rihanna and Paul McCartney debut respectively in the top three positions.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Umbrella" - Rihanna feat. Jay-Z *3 weeks* *airplay gainer*
2. "Party Like A Rockstar" - Shop Boyz
3. "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin')" - T-Pain feat. Yung Joc
4. "Big Girls Don't Cry" - Fergie
5. "Makes Me Wonder" - Maroon 5
6. "Hey There Delilah" - Plain White T's
7. "Girlfriend" - Avril Lavigne
8. "Summer Love" - Justin Timberlake
9. "Pop, Lock & Drop It" - Huey
10. "Rehab" - Amy Winehouse *sales gainer*

hmm, i think it's a biased of you to talk trash about mika and allen just because you're, i'm assuming, a winehouse fan. after all, since your goal was to give news and updates, not opinions, there really wasn't need to openly diss the other artists, was there?

I cannot believe you're questioning my integrity! I'm a hard news journalist! Very hard. And if you'll excuse me, some news just popped up that I have to go take care of.

Get off the internet! There are many people who do what you do, only 10X better.
