May The King Of Gloom Be Forever Doomed

There's a pretty dead-on review of the new Smashing Pumpkins album, Zeitgeist, in the Enfield Observer: "For me, a good Smashing Pumpkins song is like the fantastic moment at the end of a 'coming of age' movie. Delicate, almost eerie verses suddenly crashing into a belting chorus, making adrenaline flood through your system while your heart soars. After a seven year gap, I was hoping for more from this album." I definitely know what this reviewer is talking about.

Granted, there are a few flashes of goodness on there; "That's The Way My Love Is" and "Zeitgeist" come to mind.

But overall, I'm not complaining. Billy Corgan's resurrection of the Pumpkins has sent me barreling down a 1994-1995 nostalgia spiral, and after dusting off Siamese Dream and heavily rotating it all last week, it was time to move on to Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness last night.

"Here Is No Why" alone was worth the trip:

For something pretty cool, check out this guy playing it on keyboard.
