Jive Records Panics, Bumps Up Britney's Album

Execs at Jive have flipped their wigs over the fact that tracks from Britney Spears' new album have leaked online. Billboard reports that "the label is doing everything possible to prevent and avoid any further illegal distribution of songs including moving up the release date of the album."

God, that pic is pure class. Blackout has now been bumped up from its November 13 drop date to October 30. That pits Britney's new album against her labelmates, Backstreet Boys.

But judging by how "Gimme More" is faring compared to BSBs' "Inconsolable," those four lunks have a stripper pole's chance at a Holy Communion in outselling her.

New Towleroad column up now.

Heck. Even Jive is "using" Britney's obvious "illness" to make money. BSB are successful because of hard work and clean living. When they've had a bit of "dirty laundry", they've aired it honestly for all to see, and they aren't constantly doing stupid things to bring negative attention to themselves. Britney is in major denial that she has a problem, and all she has for friends these days are the paparazzi who follow her like alley cats follow someone with a can of rancid tuna.
