Blake Lewis Enters The Album Chart At #10 And iTunes Publishes Its Best Sellers Of 2007

This year's American Idol runner-up Blake Lewis enters Billboard's album chart at #10 with Audio Day Dream. Aww, hang in there, fuzzy!

While it's not the best debut -- Billboard notes that as far as other runner-ups, Clay Aiken, Bo Bice (Who?) and Katharine McPhee (What?) all entered higher on the chart -- Blake still managed to match Idol winner Jordin Sparks' position from two weeks back. Sparks' self-titled album sold 119,000 copies in its first week, while Blake's has moved 98,000.

Audio Day Dream turned out to be a really great pop album, despite a few cookie-cutter Hip hop numbers, but perhaps the problem lies with Arista trying to market it with the lackluster "Break Anotha" as the first single. On iTunes, the public has taken the matter into their own hands by downloading the Human League-esque synth ballad "How Many Words" enough times for it to land in the online store's Top 100 Songs. Currently it's at #96.

But listen up -- in a Christmas season that's lacking any big releases, you'd be wise to take a chance on the surprisingly rad Audio Day Dream. If anything, download "How Many Words," "1000 Miles" and the BT-produced "She's Makin' Me Lose It," which features *NSync alum Chris Kirkpatrick on backing vocals(!!).

Meanwhile, iTunes, which is now the third largest music retailer behind Wal-Mart and Best Buy, has published its best-selling albums and songs of the year.

Have I been under a rock all this time? When did snoozefest Colbie Caillat hit Top 10 album anywhere. Oh, say it ain't so.

What are your favorite songs off Blake's ADD? I don't have the patience to listen to the whole thing! You do the dirty work, music man :P

I never want to hear those first three songs on the iTunes list again for the rest of my life. On the other hand, I'm still nowhere near sick of "The Way I Are."

what's with the colbie caillat obsession? i just don't get it. i could not possibly care less about her bubbly nose and toes.

on the other hand, totally agreed on blake's album. love all the tracks you mentioned, and also "end of the world" and "here's my hello."

Have I been listening to Blake's CD wrong this whole time? I thought "I Got U" was the track with Chris Kirkpatrick on it...it's not? Who is singing backing vocals on that? It's a gorgeous pop ballad, whoever it is.

liner notes say it's actually blake doing his own backing vocals on most of the tracks (including i got u).

gotta agree with the top three you picked, although "surrender" and "end of the world" are getting stuck in my head too!

Oops -- sorry if this is misinformation -- I'm going by what it says on Wikipedia for the album.

I downloaded it from iTunes and have the liner notes from there, but haven't looked at them, to be honest! Will check 'em out tonight.
