Why Aren't Looney Housewives Downloading Clay Aiken Like They Are Josh Groban?

How did this trash slip under the radar? It's Clay Aiken's Christmas EP, All I Want: Songs For Christmas, which was just added to iTunes this week.

And has anyone else noticed that once Clay's career went south and his loyal fanbase of Republican sewing-bee moms fluttered away like hens being chased with an axe, the gamine crooner began morphing into a 47-year-old woman himself? Seriously, is that Reba on that EP cover?

Poor Clay. Ever since Her Royal Oprah knighted Josh Groban a few weeks ago, his holiday album Noel has ruled the charts. Mazel Tov! Alas, Clay is now just another dame broken by the cruel, unfeeling Pop Machine.

Moving on to classier pop stars, Britney Spears not only celebrated her 38th birthday this week, but she also has the "Sales Gainer" on Billboard's Hot 100 with her single, "Piece Of Me," which moves up from #63 to #47. Let's chalk that up to the Robyn factor. And piece of Britney? How about a piece of that cake instead? Then again, it's probably laced with Ajax or whatever kids are snorting off dumpster lids these days. Higher up, Natasha Bedingfield's "Love Like This" becomes her third U.S. Top 20 hit after inching up one notch to #20.

Over on the Top 200 Albums, as mentioned, Josh Groban is #1 again with Noel after selling 539,000 copies. The Eagles have been certified triple platinum after only five weeks, while Britney's Blackout -- which came out the same week as the Eagles record -- is at #41. Have another bite of that cake, doll.

After making the worst debut of an American Idol winner last week at #10, Jordin Sparks' self-titled album falls to #18. Her single "Tattoo" is at #11.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "No One" - Alicia Keys *3 weeks*
2. "Kiss Kiss" - Chris Brown feat. T-Pain
3. "Apologize" - Timbaland feat. OneRepublic
4. "Low" - Flo Rida feat. T-Pain
5. "Bubbly" - Colbie Caillat
6. "Clumsy" - Fergie
7. "Good Life" - Kanye West feat. T-Pain
8. "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" - Soulja Boy
9. "Hate That I Love You" - Rihanna feat. Ne-Yo
10. "Paralyzer" - Finger Eleven

Wow, D'Luv, it's not like you to be a YEAR behind on the goings-on of Ms. Aiken...

That EP was a Wal-Mart Only exlusive cd LAST year.

    ...and yes...sadly, I own a copy.

But, as the post says, just added to iTunes this week...hence the word "downloading" in the title. :)

Um, Reba?? Not so much. Reba ain't that fugly. Clay's morphed into Melissa Ethridge, if you ask me, D'luvvie.

True fact: my dad's favorite Christmas album for the past few years has been Clay's (not this one, but that full album from some years ago). But this year, Clay has been replaced by...yup, Josh Groban. Which would be a funnier story if you'd actual seen/knew my dad (can we just say ex-football player? Does that make the picture clearer?). Oh well.

I haven't really been paying close attention, but it seems like "Tattoo" just sort of hovered around the bottom of the top 40 and then suddenly shot up the charts. I was so surprised to see it in the iTunes top 10 around the time of the album's release--I hadn't realized it was that popular!

oh who knew that clay had ANOTHER christmas ep out? Seriously, how many christmas albums does that he-she need? Shockingly my fave christmas album this year is a rather darling little one from former idol Kimberley Locke. Woo hoo!

A friend of mine who works for a record label once told me that a Christmas album is a good way to get out of a certain number of record contract for the record label.

After Clay's last crappy CD, I don't know what they are doing with him. His first CD wasn't that bad, and the boy can sing; so why not a good record? Come on y'all!
