Ferras: This Season's Real American Idol Winner

Say hello to 25-year-old singer/songwriter Ferras. You're probably going to be hearing a lot more of him in the months to come -- or at least his ballad, "America's Not Hollywood" (on iTunes now), which was chosen to be played when American Idol contestants get axed each week this season.

Now, I'm not saying Ferras looks like he'd be the drop-dead best pop star shag of the new millenium. No! This kid's got more going for him than that, such as more talent than any of these Idol duds will likely offer up.

Some of his other songs like "Liberation Day" and "Aliens And Rainbows" are kinda reminiscent of my favorite David Bowie song, "Life On Mars?", which makes me wanna take my hand and mess up his screwed-up eyes and screw-down hairdo.

Anyway, here's yowza-cute Ferras on The Today Show yesterday, performing "Hollywood's Not America". (And here's hoping his career goes a bit more Daughtry than Daniel Powter!)

Ferras' full Aliens And Rainbows album is due out April 1.

Good song, and I've also decided he should wear those sexy-ass suspenders in all promo shots from now on.

Paul, it's funny that this will be the song of his that gets big first, because there are way more upbeat ones on his album.

Joshua, give him a pinch for me!

Mike, try sleeping on your back...

Adem, or be tied up in them?

Yuri, careful, luv, you're bitterness is showing.

So he has TWO songs with the word Hollywood in the title? He must have been one of three fans of the Madonna song... Or maybe that infamous VMA performance...

DT, you won't be disappointed -- the whole album rawks.

Joshua, no, I made a boo boo. When I went to type "Hollywood's Not America" the second time, I was thinking of Morrissey's "America Is Not The World" and typed "Hollywood's Not The World." Surely you made the same mistake?
