Wow! It's A Great Week For Kylie And The Feeling

After two months of hovering in the midsection of the U.K. Top 40, slinky trinket Kylie Minogue's"Wow" jumps up to #5 following the release of the actual CD single. Kylie performed "Wow" on the X Factor season finale in December, prompting heavy downloading of the track -- thus its early appearance on the chart.

"Wow" is Minogue's second U.K. Top 5 single from X, and also has the distinction of being the Aussie pop tart's 24th Top 5 single in Old Blighty, starting with a span that began 20 years ago last month when "I Should Be So Lucky" hit #1. Assuming it will go no higher, "Wow" will be only her second U.K. single to peak at #5, following 2004's "Red Blooded Woman."

Album-wise, Kylie's X also takes a leap, from #38 to #24.

Meanwhile, although The Feeling's new single "I Thought It Was Over" drops to #11 after a solitary week in the Top 10, the band of dandies has the honor of watching new album Join With Us go straight in at #1. Myself, I kept forgetting to order the CD from Amazon UK, and after a steady week of reading the music blogger love shoot from every orafice for Join With Us, yesterday I decided to hit up famed L.A. record store, Amoeba, to purchase it on import.

Alas, they were either out of it, or never got it in.

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "Mercy" - Duffy *2 weeks*
2. "What's It Gonna Be" - H Two O feat. Platinum
3. "Rockstar" - Nickelback
4. "Now You're Gone" - Basshunter
5. "Wow" - Kylie Minogue
6. "Chasing Pavements" - Adele
7. "Sun Goes Down" - David Jordan
8. "Don't Stop The Music" - Rihanna
9. "Stop And Stare" - OneRepublic
10. "Work" - Kelly Rowland

Excellent that "Wow" is a Top 5-er. Even better if it peaks higher next week or so. BTW, "Wow" debuted at #11 in Australia this week.

I was lukewarm to "Wow" at first but the new single remix has got me hooked, it is indeed wow wow wow WOW! However the sleeve art is ow ow ow OW! Possibly Kylie's lowest moment since the UK sleeve for "Wouldn't Change a Thing"!

"X" has been heavily discounted in the UK following Kylie's Brit win this week, some stores have it for £5.99!

I would be surprised if Wow goes higher next week (though i would love it too - seriously, more people like Nickelback than this?? Though it has been chart-lingering forever) but nothing about the new chart system surprises me anymore.

Yay for the feeling. You really should get the album, or i'll bring it over next week!! And the power of popera group remains with JOnathan Ansell (G4) debuting at number nine. Crikey!

You should really think about using cd-wow.com instead of Amazon UK to buy imports. MUCH better prices.

Sometimes it takes a bit longer to get them, but it's worth it if you buy a lot of import cds.

I think Kylie will take that #5, given the strength of the digital track. Crazy how much press she's been doing, though. I hear she's now doing a celebrity version of "What Not To Wear" with one of her dancers.

My optimism for her US chances jumped this weekend after coming across a new version of "All I See" with US rapper MIMS on the intro. If Capital is going to this much trouble, is it safe to say they might even bring her over for promotion? Wow wow wow WOW! (Sorry...couldn't resist)

Did you see Kylie's BRIT performance? I was not a fan, she looked tired, poor love.

I LOVE "Wow," so I'm very glad to see it go top 5. I've still not got the Feeling album yet either, but seeing it take the top spot on the albums chart is great.

    Yuri, sexy!

    Brady, yeah, isn't the U.K. sleeve(s) dull??

Paul, I truly don't get the Nickelback thing in the U.K.

    XO, that's okay. You're a bitch.

Anonymous, but I want it now!

John, yeah, I mean, it's Mims! "This Is Why I'm Hot"! Totally. Mims.

Adem, no, but she looked kinda trag during that hour long British special she did a few months back.

    PG, tooootal.
