Boyzone Are No Take That
One can only guess at the annoyed ranting of Noel/Liam Gallagher at having to come in not only second behind Pink, but third, with new Oasis single "The Shock Of The Lighting."
Of course, the real news for those with a pop heart is the return of Boyzone, whose "Love You Anyway"—the Ronan Keating-led boy band's first new single in eight years—debuts at #5. The track is one of two new songs on upcoming greatest hits collection Back Again... No Matter What.
Here's the vid:
Unmistakable is the slight tinge of Amy Winehouse-revived '60s pastiche in there. But whatever—"Love You Anyway" is certainly no "Patience," a song that propelled Take That back to the top of the British chart after a decade-long absence almost two years ago.
If anything, the return of Boyzone only makes the anticipation for Take That 2.0's sophomore release all the more exciting.
The U.K. Top 10:
1. "So What" - Pink *1 week*
2. "Sex On Fire" - Kings Of Leon
3. "The Shock Of The Lightning" - Oasis *new*
4. "Girls" - Sugababes
5. "I Love You Anyway'" - Boyzone *new*
6. "Disturbia" - Rihanna
7. "I Kissed A Girl" - Katy Perry
8. "When I Grow Up" - Pussycat Dolls
9. "In This City" - Iglu & Hartly
10. "Cookie Jar" - Gym Class Heroes feat. The Dream
Labels: Boyzone, Oasis, Pink, Take That, U.K. chart

Bleh. This Boyzone crap is one more reason to lock up Winohouse and throw away the key. Or better yet, lock up Boyzone. At least Amy pulled it off without sounding calculated or desperate.

they are no take that! I am ridiculously eager for TT's new music. Incidentally the Britannia High show starts here soon :) Nice to see Pinkypoos at number one and Sugababes getting a fairly decent placing with Girls...

Of the boyband or boygroup comebacks so far, Boyzone's track is the worst.
Both Take That and New Kids On The Block came back with a much more matured and appropriate offering, both shedding off the teen-pop image. But Boyzone's track provide the audience with no new offering...and nothing to shout about at all. Who's next? N'Sync?

Wow, I like it and was singing along by the last chorus. Catchy as hell, though I don't think the Winehouse reference was necessary. Let's give the credit where the credit is due, and that's to Motown!

Not inspiring my hate, but not going to be challenging "The World Should Revolve Around Me" as my favorite of these '60's revival songs any time soon either.

I like it. It's jaunty.
Ronan should've let Stephen sing part of it though.

I love you already. ^_^ Couldn't have said it better myself.
I'd still eff-you-see-kay Shane Lynch though.
Ew. I can't believe I said that.
I hate the fact that ever since Take That got together, all these other acts have decided to do comebacks as well.
I can only hope for 5ive to follow suit. But the others? Forget about it.
