I "The Promise" Not To Trash Girls Aloud Today

There's a popular misconception that D'luv thinks Girls Aloud are a mangy pack of Z-grade dames with all the talent of a dead whore baking in the sun and decomposing on a rock at the beach.

But 'tis not so!

Ever since their magnificent single "Call The Shots" made it to Chart Rigger's "Best of the Year" list last December, I've warmed up to these strippers.

And while their new jam "The Promise" doesn't come close to "Call The Shots," it nevertheless tops the U.K. chart this week, ironically the same week the similarly '60s-influenced "Girls" by Sugababes gets bumped out of the Top 10.

All in all, "The Promise" is the Girls' 19th single, and their fourth U.K. #1—the last of which was the godawful "Walk This Way" duet with Sugababes.

Elsewhere, there's the 2008 update of Guru Josh's "Infinity" at #3...but, you know—NEEEXT!

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "The Promise" - Girls Aloud *1 week*
2. "So What" - Pink
3. "Infinity 2008" - Guru Josh Project *new*
"Sex On Fire" - Kings Of Leon
5. "Wire To Wire'" - Razorlight *new*
6. "Up'" - The Saturdays
7. "Hot N Cold" - Katy Perry
8. "Love Lockdown" - Kanye West
9. "Raindrops (Encore Une Fois)" - Sash feat. Stunt
10. "The Winner's Song" - Geraldine

oh my goodness, i am still obsessed with the promise. such an amazing tune. my love for it grows daily as does my resentment for evil cheryl cole on the x factor. And ditto 17days comment. the album has leaked and it is tres magnifique. You will adore.

I haven't been blown away by "The Promise", but like you, they get some major points with me because of "Shots". I'm eager to hear the rest of the CD.

I'm hoping you like "Untouchable" on the new album d'luvly one. It's similar to "Call The Shots" but, I think, possibly BETTER.

Nearly clocks in at 7 minutes though.

i love this album! will order it for sure. it's much stronger than "tangled up" and i actually think "the promise" is one of the weaker tracks.

17 Days, I've heard it, and my britches are still drenched.

Paul, don't make me spank you with a piece of plywood, luv.

John, Fuck the rest of the CD..."the Loving Kind" is all I can handle.

Adem, I'd better listen to this... I'll get back to you.

Will, I've got the Saturdays on the way, in the meantime. These broads had better deliver.

Girls Aloud - are a pure part of trash culture designed to appeal to angsted ridened teenage girls. The music is bland trash (it is not part of popular culture - a little bit of imagination/thought process must be included to be put into that bracket).
They have had 19 chart hits - so what! - there are a lot of people that into trash culture that is all that means. They will never gain true music credibility.
What annoys me is that they are almost represented as an elite music act - when they are exact opposite.Trouble is people are taken in by it - suckers.
