You've Come A Long Way, Sugababes

While "Girls" is hardly a stellar Sugababes single when held up against the Brit girl group's top notch offerings of yore—such as "Red Dress," "Easy" and "About You Now"—there's still a bit of D'luvvly anticipation for new album Catfights And Spotlights (out October 20 in the U.K.).

Sugababes have to be the hardest—or at least fastest—working girls in pop at the moment, considering that, with the exception of 2001 and 2004, they've had a new release out each fall since 2000.

Granted, one of those was a greatest hits, but they also re-recorded parts of 2005's Taller In More Ways for its '06 re-release once Mutya Buena rolled.

And thank God these broads found decent stylists to work with. They looked like three transexual tweens hookin' at the playground back then.

HA! That cover for "Three" always looked hideous to me. Thankfully the music overcame the cosmetic flaws.

I would normally agree John but the hideous sleeve design for "change" makes me puke whenever I see it.

I object to that unflattering picture of Heidi appearing on the cover artwork!

My sister always said Keisha looked like a fish that would live in the absolute bottom of the ocean on the Three cover.

Off topic: Have you guys heard Annie's 2 of Hearts yet? For all the hand-job type praise it got I was left feeling underwhelmed. It's quite shit really.

John, Their covers were kinda tragic until the Taller re-release, no?

Jump!, that might explain why people pretty much stayed away from that album...or at least all the singles but "About You Now."

    Michael, objection sustained!

Gatoinfeliz, I've actually somehow avoided Annie this album so far... I really liked the first one, though. Someday, maybe...

That's a really disappointing cover. What does that photo say about Catfights and Spotlights? I expected something a bit more dramatic with a title like that.
The covers of Change and Taller in More Ways are really boring too. Three's cover is ugly but at least it's something different.

Their biggest mistake was not releasing "My Love is Pink" from "Change" - from which all the singles except "About You Now" were just Pepe!

Hardest working girls in pop? Now, there's a title held by a little group called GIRLS ALOUD! :D

I like how Mutya went from mischievous schoolgirl to saucy cholla, to classy cholla, to replaced by Amelle! Poor Mutya.

My Love is Pink was indeed single-worthy.

Jesus Christ Keisha; hello Tits McGee!!

But I am looking forward to the album, though not as much as I anticipated "Change" last year which I still think is probably their best record.

I would have liked a little creative direction for the cover art of this new one though. With a title as exciting as that, it opened up a lot of opportunities for a fun album cover.
