Everything Comes Right Round To Max Martin This Week

At six weeks now at #1, Flo Rida and Kesha's "Right Round" has had the longest run a the top of Billboard's Hot 100 in 2009. Actually, it had that distinction when it crossed the four-week mark.

Another single that spent six weeks at the top of the U.S. chart is Ace Of Base's "The Sign," which was #1 this week in 1994. I kept meaning to mention that in these past few weeks, but repeatedly got distracted by things like swatting at a fly with my tennis racket and making a grilled cheese sandwich.

But, oh, how it all comes full circle. "Right Round" is produced by Dr. Luke and Timbaland. Dr. Luke also frequently collaborates with Max Martin, who was the late Denniz Pop's protege at Cheiron Studios in the '90s. And Denniz Pop, of course, produced "The Sign."

And speaking of Max Martin, he also twiddled Britney Spears' giant knobs on "If U Seek Amy," which is the week's Sales Gainer, and is up from #35 to #26. It's the sixth U.S. Top 40 hit Max has banged out of Britney.

What else, what else. Oh, yeah. Flo Rida's latest, "Sugar"—which owes it's main melody to Eiffel 65's "Blue (Da Ba Dee)"—is the Hot Shot Debut, at #25. But I just like the names of these broads Flo slaps in front of the mic to sing the choruses. Kesha, Wynter... I just hope Trinkket is on his his third single! She's my fave!

On the album chart, Kelly Clarkson has a second week at #1 with All I Ever Wanted. See? Max Martin. I'm telling you...

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Right Round" - Flo Rida feat. Kesha *6 weeks*
2. "Poker Face" - Lady GaGa *airplay gainer*
3. "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" - Souljah Boy Tell 'Em feat. Sammie
4. "Dead And Gone" - T.I. feat. Justin Timberlake

    I am so sick of seeing the letters 'f', 'e', 'a' and 't'. :P
Apparently it gets cold and lonely in recording studios.

I'm surprised by the success of "If You Seek Amy". I thought it was totally gonna tank.

Miss P (not to be confused with my cat, Miss Pussy), I know—six songs this week with a "featuring"....why don't pop stars just do coke in the recording studio when they're cold and lonely, like the old days?

Will, I really did, too. The big L.A. top 40 station is playing it to death, though not nearly as much as "poker face".
