Depeche Mode And Pet Shop Boys Make An Impact
Nothing much new going on with the Billboard Hot 100 this week, although doesn't it seem like it's taking Britney Spears' "If U Seek Amy" (at #19...again) forever to move up? It feels like it should've started sliding down the chart by this point, but, no—Brit's still hanging in there in the somewhat limbo of the lower Top 20.One other single worth noting is Kelly Clarkson's "I Do Not Hook Up," which moves up 42 positions to #46. Although, I'm starting to wonder whether I like this one just by default of there not being any other good songs in the chart right now?
Anyway, the week's big news would be over on the album chart, where Depeche Mode, and the Pet Shop Boys see their highest entries in over a decade with Sounds Of The Universe (#3) and Yes (#32), respectively.
You can't help recognizing how it's more of a symbolic, if not hollow, victory, given how dismal album sales have become.
The U.S. Top 10:
1. "Boom Boom Pow" - The Black Eyed Peas *4 weeks*
2. "Poker Face" - Lady GaGa
3. "Day 'N' Nite" - Kid Cudi

5. "Right Round" - Flo Rida feat. Kesha
