Well, There's Always the Second Frankmusik Single To Look Forward To, Right?

Vincent Frank, aka Frankmusik—aka(#2) the most wanked-over artist this year by music bloggers—probably fell backwards over his Korg, knocked it into the drapes, sent the curtain rod flying off it's hinges and crashed through the glass after seeing the U.K. chart positions today.

The 23-year-old's major label debut single "Better Off As Two" came in at...suspenseful drumroll...a less-than-astounding #26. Goodness! Will Frankmusik go the way of Lorraine, Same Difference, and all others who got flushed into obscurity's sess pool following a lone, poorly-charting first single?

Ah, Britain, thou art a cruel lady. However, faring much better in the electronic music department is La Roux, who continue to claw their way toward the top with "In For The Kill" (this week to #2).

Oh, well. Cheer up, Frankmusik fans...you'll always have this picture of his butt to remember.

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "I'm Not Alone" - Calvin Harris *2 weeks*
2. "In For The Kill'" - La Roux
3. "Poker Face" - Lady GaGa
4. "Jai Ho'" - Ar Rahman feat. Pussycat Dolls
5. "Love Sex Magic" - Ciara feat. Justin Timberlake
6. "Halo" - Beyonce
7. "Don't Upset The Rhythm (Go Baby Go)" - The Noisettes
8. "We Made You" - Eminem *new*
9. "Shake It" - Metro Station
10. "Not Fair'" - Lily Allen

hmm. i'd attribute this to the fact that the single itself leaked ages ago and anyone who wanted it would have it by now.

i think he's great but perhaps, a little too "next" for the general public.

Will's right: We've all heard it already. And lest we forget, "Better Off As Two" isn't even one of his better tracks...it's simply okay.

was this his limited edition single? Again? I don't understand how a song that anyone in Britain can download from iTunes is a limited edition single?!?! Do they stop the downloads after a certain amount?! Good grief.

It might also have to do with the fact he came off as a total wanker in every interview he did. Not endearing in the slightest. Shame. Great tunes.

I defo agree (Will's comment). I heard this song about 3 months ago but I'm still liking it. I think he should release his album next month. That would be a way better move.

"Better Off As Two" is one of my favorite songs by him (though I have an awful lot of "one of my favorites" tracks when it comes to Frankmusik), but if anything that should have been a sign it was going to face trouble. Given the usually inverse relationship between songs I like by upcoming artists and success on the charts, he should probably release the reworked "Confusion Girl" next.

I'm going to agree with PG on the reworked "Confusion Girl" being his next release. Makes perfect sense and might even give him a proper hit.

Ha ha. I was quite proud of my number 26 position. Considering I worked in Levi Jeans just 2 years ago. x
