Daniel Merriweather's Mouth And The Atrocity That Is Jade Ewen

The great thing about Daniel Merriweather, as I've stated before is—well, basically, his mouth. For singing, of course. Ahem. And, well, sing Daniel does on new single "Red," which debuts at #5 on the U.K. chart this week. This trumps his previous release "Change," which made it to #8 back in February.

Norway's Alexander Rybak is in at #10 with his cheeseball Eurovision-winning entry "Fairytale." Yeah, Alexander can just keep his mouth to himself.

This brings us to Jade Ewen, who sang Britain's entry at Eurovision (and placed fifth), "It's My Time." The single appropriately flops at #27. I was part of the Pop Trash Addicts pop panel this week, and in my review of this dismal travesty, I believe I summed it all up with, "Stick to stripping, baby." I don't know if it's the song itself or Jade's Who, me? I'm famous? emoting in the video that irks me to no end.

Here are the clips for "Red" and "It's My Time":

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "Bonkers" - Dizee Rascal *new*
2. "Boom Boom Pow" - Black Eyed Peas
3. "Number 1" - Tinchy Stryder feat. N-Dubz
4. "We Made You" - Eminem
5. "Red" - Daniel Merriweather *new*
6. "In For The Kill'" - La Roux
7. "Not Fair'" - Lily Allen
8. "Kiss Me Thru The Phone" - Souljah Boy Tell Em feat. Sammie
9. "Poker Face" - Lady GaGa
10. "Fairytale" - Alexander Rybak

I am extremely pleased that Daniel charted as high as he did. I figured it would have come in outside the Top 10, but to beat the debut single is pretty impressive indeed. And I'm not sure how this happened, but I actually like "Fairytale". The lyrics are a bit lame, but the chorus is insanely catchy.

lordy lordy, am i the only person who is unimpressed by Daniel's mouth and / or voice? At least the star pilots debuted at 21 (they are proper not attractive in person btw, i bumped into them at bham pride. ace six packs though) and paolo nutini is at 19. now there's a mouth i could go for :)

Boom Boom Pow is really getting on my nerve. Love Daniel's RED and Paolo's Candy, I wonder when is Sophie's turn to rule the chart with Heartbreak? Hmm...

Jade Eeeeeewen is VILE! The world doesn't need another Leona Lewis. The original is dire enough!

Oh and that "Fairytale" rubbish sums up everything that's wrong with Eurovision. Yuck!

Whilst an avid chart rigger reader this is the first time I have felt compelled to comment...why does everyone berate Eurovision? not only is it the most watched TV programme in Europe, but every year it provides some fab (and not so) songs !! lets celebrate the highest UK chart place for a Euro Winner in ??? years..did Katrina go top 10 with 'Love shines a light? Alexanda is a cutie and the song is fab ! as for the Jade 'witch'hunt - she did us proud (placed 5), and it was not her fault she got hitched with an Sir webber show tune ! thats the BBC for you. Lets give her the benefit of the doubt, should she actually get a second single?

Yours sufferung from PED (Post Eurovision depression)

Yay for Alexander Rybak (a totally deserving winner, despite the anti-"favorite wins" backlash...though if someone has never liked it, that's fine) and yay for Daniel's "Red"--like John, I didn't expect it to do as well as it did.
