Pete Hammond's Also Feeling Up Lonnie Gordon

Jesus, Pete Hammond never rests! In addition to the City Girls' "Make Up Your Mind" being released in June, he's also remixed Lonnie Gordon's 1991 single "Gonne Catch You" for a new version called "Catch You Baby," also set for release next month.

Here 'tis (thanks much to Jarvt for uploading these clips):

As mentioned awhile back, Lonnie Gordon's classic 1990 PWL/Supreme album If I Have To Stand Alone was reissued last month with a slew of extras.

    Oh yeah!

One of those cheap pop tunes that I love.

ah Lonnie. Voice of a powerhouse diva, fashion sense of a lesbian prison officer. I loved her. And this. Is it true her album was meant to be for Donna Summer but she threw a bit of a strop??!

...and to complete the Pete-Hammond overdose of the day, do you want to hear more and are you ready to faint? He is also back in the studio with Sinitta. Yes, herself, and same former fiancee and first artistic-creation of Simon Cowell (whom to date is the godfather of Sinitta's adopted children). And Sir Hammond and Lady Sinitta have been cooking this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nRbrRZ9F2U

God forbid The Reynolds Girls are next!

These are fab -- I'm a huge supporter of any and all Hammond retro mixes, samey though they may become after awhile. Bring 'em on!

This PWL-styled mix of Carly Simon's "You're So Vain" has to be heard to be believed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2AQw-ycN7s

OMG! In deed, that Carly Simon thing just left me breathless. That Mattpoop guy is a genius!
It totally cracks me up at the bridge part with the typical pitch-up-&-down sampled-phrase moment (pre auto-tune days) that should go there in any PWL production de rigueur.
    Thanks for posting the link.

DanP76, it sounds so much better now!

Paul, oooh, never heard that one... intriguing, though!

Cristián, luv, I think the Reynolds Girls are fat barmaids in Croydon now.

    Moog, that mix is amazing!!!!!!

    Yuri, it's a shocker!

It has the same kind of shuffling-thuds as parts of Bananarama's Love In The First Degdree, but all the way through. That's petty mega for Lonnie, I never rated the song that highly before. The fact that she has the kind of expression that suggests she's 0.1 seconds away from 'grogging' you in the face is part of what makes her amzing - speaking it her trademark 'spitting' sounds, A God That Can Dance still wipes the floor with most other dance songs. I'm Gonna Deck You more like.

It cannot truly have success, I believe so.
