Madonna Fans Cry Into Their Cone Bras As Lady GaGa Is Nominated For 9 MTV VMAs

Both Lady GaGa and Beyonce have been nominated for a total of nine MTV Video Music Awards each. Wow—that means this might be the classiest VMAs show since Britney stumbled through "Gimme More" like a beached dead hooker tangled in a whale net.

Speaking of which, Britney Spears has seven nominations, herself. And I love how MTV is finally acknowledging Rihanna's tranny-like status by including her in the "Best Male Video" category.

Here are some of the less-boring categories for the 2009 VMAs:

Eminem - “We Made You”
Kanye West - “Love Lockdown”

- “Hot n Cold”
Beyoncé - “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”
Kelly Clarkson - “My Life Would Suck Without You”

Best overall video, best female and best pop will be silly if they start juggling between Gaga, Britney and Beyonce for winners.

I'm kind of looking forward to it though.

Chartrigger, can you use your powers (whatever they may be) to find out why Ace of Base's official website has been down for weeks on end and contact their management to find out about the status of their new album and U.S. touring and release potential, please? :)

VMAs...haha...cute...like those still exist! Oh, they do? Really? And they're on that channel with all the crap reality shows? What's the connection there?

Either way, I think it's safe to say from looking at this sad little list that we've officially entered the "post-talent/post-relevance" era of "popular" music.

It's pretty much every man for himself now as we must scour the internet searching for something we enjoy or respect, because the "mainstream" approved product is a festering pile of pigshit.

Music sales aren't just down 3000% because of illegal downloading...it's because no one wants what's being sold. I'd pay to make it go away, actually.

Also @ anonymous, haven't you heard? Ace of Base is now known as Industry and they've had extensive facework done to kick off their new brand. (they starved the fat one down to an absolute twig!)

It's tough to decide between "Single Ladies" and "Poker Face" (even though I vastly prefer the "Paparazzi" video). I think they're both iconic in their own way. Beyonce's is classier and the dancing is amazing but "Poker Face" kind of brought on the whole Lady GaGa dance pop revolution. Maybe they can take turns sitting on the awards.

Aw, the VMA's? How quaint. We can all gather round the set and pretend it's 1994, except there's not really anyone interesting to watch anymore. Oh well, we can pretend, for one night, that MTV still matters. Yay!
