Agnes Does Chart Rigger, Unveils Her U.S. 'Release Me' Video

Swedish Idol winner Agnes Carlsson has already seen her single "Release Me" become a hookertastic pop hit throughout Europe!

Last month Agnes was here in Los Angeles to shoot an American version of the music video—you know, because we can't handle some of the more European flourishes such as blond guys and disco lights!

While she was here, Agnes sat down for this quick clip where she greets Chart Rigger readers and introduces her new video!

"Release Me" is available now on iTunes. Agnes' album Dance Love Pop is forthcoming here in the States.

It always baffles me. Why do labels feel the need to re-shoot a video for the US market? When I worked at one, there was always some lame excuse. These days, it makes even less sense. Who plays a video?

And what about the concept? Ooooh! A warehouse party. Let's make believe it's the early 90s! I can just see the idiot exec on this one. "Yeah! It'll be like a rave!". You can hear me roll my eyes from here. I'm bet they made sure to add enough bronzer to make her look just a little bit like Beyonce, too.

These are the things that make me crazy about the music "biz". The song is strong enough to stand on its own with the original video.

And the album title needs to be jettisoned. Seriously.

The song? One of the best of the year. Brilliant!

I definitely preferred the original vidja... with the exception of the CR shout-out. Are they gonna make her put out a Candlelight Mix for U.S. radio, too?

    Still a jam, though.

Forget anything else you may have achieved in years of music writing--you've now officially made it, Robbie.

The original video perfectly captured the joy of the song (and they didn't deviate that much from it, just adds some other stuff, but I still prefer the original), but her hairstyle's cute.

Oh Agnes, you had me at hello. Then you threw in some drum fills ripped from the Shep Pettibone/ Cathy Dennis playbook and a fabulously happy piano break at the end, just to make me love you forever.

Since when did the American versions of videos starting looking like lower budget versions of the originals?

I'm glad to see she's getting the full-court press. But how much does a video really do for her in America?
