Dumb Owl City Jokes, Because 'Fireflies' Is #1 In The U.K.

Okay, I got one for you: Owl City flies to #1 this week on the U.K. singles chart. Get it? Like an owl, and it has wings so it, like, flies?

Or wait, wait—Whoooooo? Whooooooo could be #1 this week, I wonder? Why, it's Owl City!

Or maybe... It's a bird! It's a plane! No, you were right the first time—it's a bird! An OWL to be exact, as in Owl City, at #1!! Or you could always do: Whoooooo?? built this city on rock and roll? Why, it was OWL CITY, who is #1 with "Fireflies!"

What about: Owl bet you can't guess who topped the chart this week. That's right, Owl City!

On a less hilarious note, Girls Can't Catch debut at #19 with "Echo." The vocals sound like alley cats moaning into a cell phone with a wet towel draped over it, so screw that trash.

But wait, I got more Owl City jokes...

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "Fireflies" - Owl City *1 week*
2. "Replay" - Iyaz
3. "Don't Stop Believin'" - Glee Cast
4. "Starstrukk" - 3OH!3 feat. Katy Perry
5. "Riverside (Let's Go!)" - Sidney Samson
6. "Won't Go Quietly" - Example *new*
7.
"Don't Stop Believin'" - Journey
8. "Broken Heels" - Alexandra Burke
9. "Bad Romance" - Lady Gaga
10. "One Shot" - JLS

I made the mistake of drinking while reading this post and nearly spit out my drink at "Whoooooo?". And then the rest of the post just kept giving. Dumb puns for the win, always. Nicely done.

"Echo": totally blah. I keep thinking they must have some great songs recorded, somewhere (working with Fred Ball would certainly make you think so), so hearing that second single was a total let down even before you got to the poor production.

Am I the only one who thinks Owl City is more than a bit SHIT?

I'm way more interested in Example at #6. Now that's a tune!

No Mike, the lyrics are sort of shit. It just has some emotional resonance for people. That said, I do think we may be looking at a OHW. One hit wonder.

I like Owl City although the lyrics are very twee. It's just quite lovely in a sub par Postal service sort of way...

Echo i like well enough but it sounds like a rejected Leona Lewis -Ryan Tedder collaboration demo. Not the most glowing endorsement at the mo is it?
