I Threw Florence And The Machine Out The Window, And Iyaz Can Take A Leap, Too

For a hot minute it looked as if Dutch DJ Sidney Samson was about to knock Lady Gaga off the top of the U.K. singles chart this week, with the Wizard Sleeve-featuring (and Tupac-sampling) "Riverside (Let's Go!)."

Alas, it's Iyaz's "Replay" that has the honor of kicking Gaga to the curb. Aptly titled, that one is, since it comes off like a redux of everything Sean Kingston and Jason Derulo have foisted onto the public in recent memory. (Incidentally, Derulo and J.R. Rotem co-wrote "Replay"—which, of course, is fascinating information.)

Florence And The Machine's "You've Got The Love" cracks the Top 10 this week and moves up to #5, besting her/their previous-best chart peak of #12 with "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)." I played this broad's CD Lungs in the car this past fall, but ended up ejecting it by track six or seven because I felt the need to hear good music, like A*Teens. I think I frisbee'd Florence out the car window while I was flying down the freeway.

FATM also see "Dog Days Are Over" debut at #23. Flo, luv, I said it before and I'll say it again: Tori Amos wants her pussy back.

What are we talking about? Ah, yes—The Saturdays. "Ego" jumps up to #9 this week, marking the group's sixth Top 10 hit in under two years. Depressing, isn't it, that the dismal "No Air" knockoff "Here Standing" is scheduled as the Sats' next single, no?

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "Replay" - Iyaz *1 week*
2. "Riverside (Let's Go!)" - Sidney Samson
3. "Starstrukk" - 3OH!3 feat. Katy Perry
4. "Bad Romance" - Lady Gaga
5. "You've Got The Love" - Florence And The Machine
6. "Don't Stop Believin'" - Journey
7. "Look For Me" - Chipmunk feat. Talay Riley
8. "TiK ToK" - Ke$ha
9. "Ego" - The Saturdays
10. "Meet Me Halfway" - The Black Eyed Peas

I haven't heard either of the top 2 songs!! I do quite like the Florence song; what i love more is that you would rather listen to the A*Teens! Who wouldn't?!

PS, that's the next Saturdays single? I thought we dodged a bullet when JLS didn't release the No Air knock off Close To You (Which i loved incidentally). JLS and Saturdays should both release their different One Shot songs the same week. Is it me, or are the Saturdays coming to an end of their 15 mins>!

"Ego" has grown on me a lot, so I'm glad to see them avoid another "Work" situation. It's getting more and more difficult to predict where things will land because of the gap between digital and physical sales in the UK.

No accounting for taste with Iyaz. I mean, this is the same country that sent Mini Viva's "I Wish" packing.

Interesting to see Journey back in the top 10. I don't particularly like "Don't stop believin'" - even though Journey is one of my favorite rock bands of all time. I did not know they had a UK following. I don't like the fact that the UK top 10 is getting almost as insipid as the US top 10.

I always mix up Florence & the Machine with Marina & the Diamonds, in that they both have ampersands but no songs I'd care to hear twice.

Is "Here Standing" really slated to be their next single?

    (pouts for 17 minutes)

When will "Wordshaker" shake up the wor(l)d?
