Joe McElderry Gets Harshed By Lady Gaga, Take That And Snow Patrol Are The Most Played

Poor Joe McElderry. Such a nice mouth. But so much lack of love in the charts. Not only was the 18-year-old pop pipsqueak robbed of the Christmas #1 single in the U.K. two weeks ago, he now gets bumped down to #2 after a lone week on top by Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance."

Even Leon Jackson spent a full three weeks on top of the Brit chart two years ago with...with...what the hell was his one hit called? "Praying For Unchained Hallelujah?"

Meanwhile, like a 10-legged centipede in a thong, The Saturdays skitter up from #20 to #17 with "Ego." Awww, that analogy makes me think back to the days of Danity Kane—the original 10-legged Ho Machine. Oh, nostalgia for hookerz gone by...

Anyway, today is the official release date for "Ego." If it misses the Top 10, you might as well chuck these broads into the wood chipper next to Joe.

Finally, it's always classy to see what the kidz are using their iTunes gift cards on the week after Christmas—Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" re-enters the chart at #32, while Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars"—a tune nearly four years old, which was just named the most-played song of the past decade in the U.K.—pops back in at #39.

The rest of the most-played songs of the '00s across the pond: Take That "Shine" (#2), Scissor Sisters "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" (#3), The Feeling "I Love It When You Call" (#4), Sugababes "About You Now" (#5), Take That "Rule The World" (#6), James Blunt "You're Beautiful" (#7), Kaiser Chiefs "I Predict A Riot" (#8), Kylie Minogue "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" (#9), Gnarls Barkley "Crazy" (#10).

Dizz-ang! It's like they stole those straight from my Last.fm profile. Minus James Blunt, of course.

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "Bad Romance" - Lady Gaga *2 weeks*
2. "The Climb" - Joe McElderry
3. "Meet Me Halfway" - The Black Eyed Peas
4. "TiK ToK" - Ke$ha
5. "3 Words" - Cheryl Cole feat. will.i.am
6. "Starstrukk" - 3OH!3 feat. Katy Perry
7. "Don't Stop Believin'" - Journey
8. "Russian Roulette" - Rihanna
9. "You Know Me" - Robbie Williams
10. "Look For Me" - Chipmunk feat. Talay Riley

Sometimes, I feel so alone in not understanding the continuing global fascination in "Don't Stop Believin'"...what's next? A "St. Elmo's Fire" renaissance?

I can't half of those songs out of my head and that includes "Don't Stop Believin'" ... I think that's the fascination of the song.

Hmmm, of the UK's top 10 sellers and top 10 most played songs of the 2000s, Mariah, Madonna and Britney were all left off those lists...but what iconic popstress made it on both - Kylie. Go Kylie! Whoop!
