Sade: Classy Band, Classy Broad

Sade (the band) are doing the promo rounds in the U.S. They performed on NBC's The Today Show and BET's 106 And Park today. I love how Sade (the broad) only puts a damn album out whenever she feels like it—i.e. every ten years or so.

This all got me in the mood to dig out the greatest hits, which I listened to today while driving in the rain. Classic jams on that. Reminds me of my mom playing Diamond Life in the mid-'80s.

As for new album Soldier Of Love—which is #1 on Amazon and iTunes—it gets two thumbs up in my book. Nice music for the winter doldrums.

Besides "Soldier Of Love" and "Moon and the sky", nothing on the album really does it for me. To me, classic Sade means instant magic - one that grips you immediately. I did not feel that at all on "Lovers Rock". Fortunately, the new album is an improvement over Lovers Rock. In addition to digging out the songs from the "Best Of Sade", take a few minutes to check out "Clean Heart" and "Should I love you" by Sade. I probably had these tracks on repeat at least 10-15 times each the first time I heard them.

Will download those asap! I only know Diamond Life and the greatest hits, other than Soldier Of Love. Somewhere the ball and chain has a copy of Lover's Rock...and by somewhere, I mean it's probably in the wrong case, shoved under a couch with 40 scratches in it.

"Should I love you" is not available on itunes. It's a rare b-side only available on Vinyl. I bought the Vinyl and had a friend convert it to an MP3 for me. The song is awesome though.

Does anyone know LOVE AFFAIR WITH LIFE? It was on the cassette version on Diamond Life and I have not been able to locate it ever since! It ended the album - and shit if it's not a masterpiece!

Been listening to "Soldier of Love" on local public radio for the past month or so. Just watched a live full concert DVD which was very artfully filmed. (Classy as always)
Her band is amazing to see live.
Hope she keeps it coming. She is unique, but the music is what matters most. Your mom must have a lot of class!

Yes. I have "Love Affair With Life". It is incredibly sexy. Sade's voice accompanied by a delicate piano = absolute magic.
