Adam Lambert Finally Cracks The Top 10, La Roux Go Top 40 And 'Glee' Has Been Sucking

This week rude boys B.o.B and Bruno Mars bump Rihanna off the #1 position on the Billboard Hot 100 with their highly-overplayed spring hit "Nothin' On You." Still, RiRi's "Rude Boy" managed to become her second longest-running single at the top of the chart (at five weeks—"Umbrella" was the longest with seven weeks) as a featured performer. (T.I.'s "Live Your Life," which features her on guest vocals, was also #1 for five weeks.) And as for B.o.B, his new single "Airplanes," which features that broad Hayley Williams from Paramore, debuts at #12.

Ke$ha lands a third Top 10 hit with "Your Love Is My Drug," which flies up ten positions to #9—despite what some are calling a disastrous performance on SNL last weekend. (Additionally, Animal leaps up from #16 to #8 on the Top 200 Albums chart.) You say disaster, I say gold-plated triumph!

Witness the New Queen Of Soul at her most stunning, chyldren:

That brings us to Adam Lambert, who deserves some congrats for finally dragging his Max Martin jam "Whataya Want From Me" into the upper reaches of the chart at #10. It's been a long haul. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this make him the first artist to come out as openly gay to have a Top 10 hit in the U.S. off their debut album? (Obviously geezers like Elton John had hits after they publicly came out.)

Christina Aguilera debuts at #23 with her new whore jam "Not Myself Tonight," while Lady Gaga—who Xtina has been pitted against recently in the press—nabs her seventh Top 40 hit with the Ace Of Base-y "Alejandro" (again, the best jam off The Fame Monster along with "Monster"). It's up to #28 this week.

Meanwhile, a post-Coachella La Roux also score a legitimate Top 40 hit in the States! Did you ever think you'd see it happen? "Bulletproof" climbs 12 spots to #36!

And then we have the Glee cast, who manage four debuts on the Hot 100 this week from the first new episode of the spring: "Gives You Hell" at #32, "Hello" at #35, "Hello Goodbye" at #49, and "Hello, I Love You" at #66. I have to say, the writing on these first two new episodes...? WEAK. It's like that pile of garbage Mamma Mia, where they're now just Scotch-taping the plots around the songs (very poorly, I might add), rather than selecting tunes that go with a strong storyline. Careful with the stunt song-ing, Glee—TV viewers are a fickle pack.

Wrapping up the Hot 100, Selena Gomez And The Scene's "Naturally"—my favorite new jam—rebounds this week, and moves up from #40 to #37. It had previously peaked at #29.

And on a final note, Ye Olde Vampyre Madonna's live Sticky & Sweet album falls like an ancient prostitute whose knees just gave out after her 46,968th blow job. Actually, that's not too many, is it? Makes me kind of nostalgic for junior high school...

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Nothin' On You" - B.o.B feat. Bruno Mars *1 week*
2. "Rude Boy" - Rihanna
3. "Hey, Soul Sister" - Train
4. "Break Your Heart" - Taio Cruz feat. Ludacris
5. "Need You Now" - Lady Antebellum
6. "In My Head" - Jason Derulo
7. "Telephone" - Lady Gaga feat. Beyonce
8. "OMG" - Usher feat. will.i.am
9. "Your Love Is My Drug" - Ke$ha
10. "Whataya Want From Me" - Adam Lambert

Congrats to Lambert! I always thought that was a solid song, nice to see it get the success it deserves. Is he still releasing Voodoo as a single? Hope so!

Same for "Alejandro", I feel like a 5th grade reject listening to "The Sign" in secret all over again!

I actually really enjoyed the Madge episode...then again I love Madge pre 2008 and face mutilation, so I guess I'm biased...

BTW, not sure if I ever posted here before, but love the blog, you've helped me waste away many hours at work, much appreciated ;)

Not much love for BOB huh? It's still fresh here, well, I don't listen to the local radio, so I'm still kinda hooked on it. LOL.
Yay for Alejandro and Lambert! :D

La Roux is finally making a mark in the chart! In For The Kill should be released soon. LOL.

Go Ke$ha! She is the new Madonna/Lady GaGa/Aretha Franklin all rolled into one. World domination is now a forgone conclusion.

Ha mike you funny kesha the new Madonna, Lady Gaga, yeah rite. She is cute but she is not original at all. She is a copy cat and she can not sing to save her life at least Lady Gaga and Madonna have talent. She just seem so artificial to me. But I do give her props because she is doing something rite for people to like her crappy music.

Oh yeah and congrats to Adam and all of the other artist for all their success, including kesha.

Lambert is a joke and be treated as such. Sick of having him shoved down my throat. "Lad gaga" is disgusting as a person. (Don't get me started). As a performer he is playing the gay card way too hard....sexuality should not be the most significant way to sell your music. Gack! Look at the real musicians who happen to be gay: Elton John, Micheal Stipe, etc. Those are musicians who stand on their own merit as artists. Sexual preference has nothing to do with their success~!

Your comments about "Glee" were spot on! Thank you for saying it. The Madonna episode was a just an hour long product placement.

Yeah...Lambo's the first openly gay artist signed onto a major label to have cracked the mainstream charts.

I think he's dope. He should release Voodoo, Soaked, Sleepwalker and Broken Open.

Anon, you're a joke and your comment was a joke. You are so insecure and cowardly you couldn't even leave a name? LOL. Get this through your peabrain. Adam Lambert is a SEXUAL & sensual person. Always has been, always will be. He is also sweet and smart and mad talented and o!m!g! ALSO HAPPENS TO BE GAY. The fact that you can't seperate ORIENTATION from SEXUALITY says it all. If he were straight, he would still be a sexual man - but then, you wouldn't have a problem with him would you? Your comment is hilarious and only showcases how intolerant, unaccepting, insecure, and grossly ignorant you are. You couldn't even lace your homophobia - because that is what it is - fear of homo-SEXuals. SEX SEX SEX. Did you know gay men and women have SEX. Did you know this act of pleasure and LOVE is all a PART of the EQUALITY acceptance movement? You're ok with gays as long as they don't love? You're ok with gays as long as they are publicly Asexual, neautral, as 'straight' as they possibly can be and don't shove it down your throat? LOL! How the fcuk is that freedom you bigoted moron. Just come out of the closet already you shifty closetcase. You know what they say about men who are unable to remove the image of men having sex from their minds LOL.

So far, Adam has got the entertainment media of 7 countries outside of the US asking why the US is so homophobic. He has answered clearly and with articulation every question about his gayness without bringing it up first. He is not secretive nor elaborative, merely matter-of-fact. He dresses, sings and acts however he wants without regard for political correctness, and never responds to criticism of his choices other than to say he’s not everyone’s cup of tea. He is polite and respectful of even the stupidest interviewers.

He is one of the strongest advocates for diversity which is the most important thing in acceptance and integration of all peoples regardless of color, race, orientation or religion.

As Curt Smith and May both said, "Adam Lambert is an unintentional pioneer. He's breaking down so many boundaries and he doesn't even realize because he's just being himself. But we can all see what's happening around him."

"This kid's talent is endless, it's insane. Few are built strong, authentic, driven enough to become what we call iconic, even merely modern day icon status acts like we have in Gaga, people wo are changing the face of music, daring to dare, no matter what."

MCho: "Adam Lambert is bringing male sexuality to music, he's electric."

Rob Halford: "Firstly, thank God for Adam Lambert. We need someone like him in the community. His voice can do so much."

Anon, the day YOU have friends and fans in Zeppelin, Slash, Spielberg, Paul McCartney, Steven Tyler, Tim Burton, Demi Moore, JMcHale, Rob Marshall, Muse, Madonna, Cuomo, Selena Williams, Gaga, Boy George, the Presleys, Stephen Fry, Justin Hawkins, Tegan & Sara, LPerry......all the rest, like he has....someone may even take you seriously. Until then, you can go right back to your home where nobody knows or cares about you, and immerse yourself in your GAY P0RN.

ooo you've bought out the lambert fans in droves :) Brilliant!!

Re: Glee - i still do adore it but i fear it's on the wane. With it's current level of insane hype, it's probably got another 2 seasons in it, and they could be brilliant. Ryan Murphy is horrible at writing drama in high school though. When Popular was great it was because it was funny. when it got dramatic it was really heavy handed and mawkish, and the same traits are seeping into Glee :/

CONGRATULATIONS Adam Lambert. Atleast for a second Americans are now realising that it does not matter to be gay orr not inorder to produce music. And I think they are begining to accep. F**k all those haters who cannot reach where you are. And also I think it is a milestone you have made to the gay community. Being the first one to be siggned to a big label. And now a top ten hit. Previously a 3rd debut of for your entertainment. KEEP IT UP. Always will be there for you :p
