Scissor Sisters Are Back (Minus Paddy Boom) With 'Night Work'

New Order + Pet Shop Boys = new Scissor Sisters track "Invisible Light." Actually, dig out New Order's "Subculture" and this sounds a kind of like it.

It's song #12 on their upcoming third album, Night Work (out June 28). That euphoric bit that the song breaks out into after the Ian McKellan talking part is pop nirvana.

First single off the album is "Fire With Fire."

1. Night Work
2. Whole New Way
3. Fire With Fire
4. Any Which Way
5. Harder You Get
6. Running Out
7. Something Like This
8. Skin This Cat
9. Skin Tight
10. Sex and Violence
11. Night Life
12. Invisible Light

So, new Robyn and Scissor Sisters in June? It can't come quickly enough.

That song is incredible. I hear Pink Floyd, New Order and the Bee Gees.

WOW, finally their own work is sounding as good as the tracks they gave to Kylie many moons ago. Can't wait to hear more.

I have the cover art, Robbie.

It is the late Robert Mapplethorpe's "Peter Reed" from a 1980 series. A lot of people are assume that it is Jake Shears (including me at first). Most people are saying it is a mix between Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Thriller.

Fritz, thank so much! Swapped it out and thanked you in there :) Jake's deadpan delivery sounds very Neil Tennant to me, while the music sounds like a combo of New Order's "Subculture" and "Round & Round." Just me, I guess...

Herman, what I said in the latter half of the above!

Moog, yeah, I mean, if that's not even the single...well, here's hoping it's all as good as this!

John in PA, and I thought you had! Nice to hear from you, stranger!

    Shaun, yes, clever me ;)

The new album looks great, but I think I'm going to download it rather than buy a physical copy... what awkward cover art. Don't want someone picking that up and asking 'so is this porn?'
('no, but it works just as well!')
