Here's What I'd Do With The Wanted (And, Really, Only One Of Them Has To Get Naked)

So, basically, I'd eff that middle guy there in The Wanted, and the others could watch or, preferably, go wash my car for three minutes. Well, actually, that one behind Middle Guy to the right kind of looks like a 20-year-old version of Take That's Howard Donald, so he gets to go buy me a grande nonfat hot chocolate with whip at Starbucks.

Anyway my problem with UK quintet The Wanted is that I've heard their debut single "All Time Low" on a few—maybe three—occasions now and it just doesn't beg for a repeat listen. What do you think?

Either way, "All Time Low" debuts this week atop the UK singles chart, and they join the ranks of JLS in making boy bands somewhat fashionable again in this new decade—at least for now.

P.S. The Wanted are managed by Jayne Collins, whose completely amazing 1994 Mike Stock/Matt Aitken-produced flop single "No Turning Back"—which featured in an episode of Baywatch—I literally just added to my brand new iPod yesterday.

I'd have actually rather seen Swedish House Mafia (whose member Sebastian Ingrosso co-wrote/co-produced Kylie Minogue's "Cupid Boy" from Aphrodite—which is #8 on the Brit album chart this week) and Pharrell's "One (Your Name)" hit #1.

Alas, you can't always get what you want. And that's why there are often tears after banging a hooker.

The U.K. Top 10:

1. "All Time Low" - The Wanted *1 week*
2. "We No Speak Americano" - Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP
3. "Billionaire" - Travie McCoy feat. Bruno Mars *new*
4. "Love The Way You Lie" - Eminem feat. Rihanna
5. "Club Can't Handle Me" - Flo Rida feat. David Guetta *new*
6. "Airplanes" - B.o.B feat. Hayley Williams
7. "One (Your Name)" - Swedish House Mafia feat. Pharrell *new*
8. "Pack Up" - Eliza Doolittle
9. "California Gurls" - Katy Perry
10. "I Need Air" - Magnetic Man feat. Angela Hunte *new*

I gave the Wanted a couple of listens, but it's completely forgettable. The interesting thing about this week is that I'm starting to hear Yolanda B Cool here as I'm out and about. Does that track stand a chance here?

Funny you should ask! Last week I pondered the same thing, and pointed out how there has been a history of novelty songs topping charts around the world and then finally crossing over in the States.

Of course, there's also history of worldwide #1s that never see the light of day here...

My bad. By the time I got back from San Francisco, I didn't have the brain capacity to make lunch, let alone read blogs.

I didn't realise there was a video to Jayne Collin's "No turning back" and now having seen it I wish I was still in the dark about its existence. It's still one of my fave Love this Jams though.

D'luv, we have similar taste in The Wanted boys. My last blog entry was about trying to figure out who was the hottie, the gay, the bad boy etc. The hottie is pretty easy to pick out.

Didn't Jayne actually perform this song during the actual episode? I remember seeing the episode in repeats and though wtf is happening. I like the song and S/A but I was wondering why, of all songs and artists, was it given two or more minutes on the show. I kind of assumed that maybe the show was popular in the UK and someone on the show knew someone at Love This and that's how it happened.

OMG! I just realized that's Little Richard making the food at the snack bar in the Jayne Collins video! Klassss.

Jump!, I also didn't realize you were blogging again! Must check out.

Anon, she did, and I remember seeing the episode like a year or two after the single was out and thinking, poor Jayne. Little did we know then that she'd be managing a chart-topping boy band, not to mention The Saturdays!

I saw Little Richard, and didn't know if he was in the Baywatch episode, or if he had just wandered onto the video soundstage looking for some rough trade.

personally i'd take the one on the far left of the single cover, so that should distract him for a couple seconds while you seduce ("") Max :P

Sigh... "No Turning Back" -- some stud sent it to me in the spring of '95, I left the tape in your car and ta-da, it went viral. Well, '95-viral, which basically means you made dubbed it onto your onw cassette. haha. Memz.

Max(the guy in the middle) and Siva(the guy in the back left) are the hottest! I agree that the song wasn't that good but those two guys made the video watchable!
