It's Joe McElderry's 'Wide Awake' Album Cover + New Single "Ambitions"
Not to be outdone by naked photos of Olly Murs, semi-naked photos of fellow X Factor alum Shayne Ward or Shayne's Obsession album cover, the cover of Joe McElderry's upcoming debut album Wide Awake has been unveiled. Handsome!
Joe's LP is out October 25 in the UK, and the first single off it, a cover of Donkeyboy's "Ambitions," premiered this evening on Radio 1.
Here's the video for Donkeyboy's original version:

Let's face it - if he wasn't gay you wouldn't give a crap about him!

Joe looks really handsome on his album cover! Could easily be an ad for Abercrombie & fitch.
As for his single "Ambitions" its a fairly faithful cover. I would love for Donkeyboy to have their own success in the UK but it's such a great song I'm glad it will hopefully get the exposure it deserves.

I can't believe he covered a song that isn't really old. "Ambitions" by Donkeyboy is great and you can't really go wrong covering a song like that but to me, that will always be Donkeyboy's song. Fortunately, he did not cover "Sometimes" by Donkeyboy. I'd be mad if he did since no one can do justice to that track like Donkeyboy does. I don't understand why debutants choose to go with a cover as opposed to their own song to launch their solo careers. It rarely works out well (well, it worked for Robbie Williams!).

ugh. i'm oddly furious that he's covered this. I mean his first song (granted he didn't have much choice) was only 8-9 months old, and this one has barely seen his first birthday. Where's the Bleeding Love or Bad Boys originality or does Simon only save that up for the girls?!

I'm wondering if they're playing it very safe with him in the wake of Olly Murs sudden success and Joe's own coming out?
I strangely don't mind this at all. It's quite a good cover.

Ugh. Donkeyboy doesn't deserve this.
Simon Cowell has no originality. Remember he also gave Leona Lewis the years-old Kelly Clarkson song "A Moment Like This" for her debut.
If anything at least Donkeyboy will make some cash.
