Kelly Clarkson's Album Sales Figures To Date

While the Pop Chyldryn graw their hands off and sit on Barbie doll legs in anticipation for Britney Spears' new single "Hold It Against Me", let us not forget that the First Lady of American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, also has new music coming this year, supposedly sooner rather than later.

It was only a mere 24 months ago that "My Life Would Suck Without You" topped the U.S. chart, "Already Gone" arrived on a wave of controversy and "I Do Not Hook Up" proved to be an able—if not slightly snoozy—lite FM radio staple.

I guess what I'm saying is that Kelly seems to have become more of a singles artist, post-Breakaway. Check these to-date sales figures for her albums that USA Today's Idol Chatter blog published today:

* Thankful (2.745 million total)
* Breakaway (6.160 million)
* My December (815,000)
* All I Ever Wanted (908,000)

Granted, it's no secret that sales figures for albums in general are in the dumpster these days. (Check the 10 best-selling albums of 2010.)

Here's hoping Kelly's upcoming LP—which she's said to have worked with Greg Kurstin, Max Martin and Howard Benson on—has some decent enough jams on it to compete with Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Weaveney Spears' new material.

    Kelly is great. I hope she does release something with a modern edge instead of HOT AC.

    Who isn't a Singles artist anymore, aside from the devastatingly beautiful Susan Boyle?

    Eminem and Taylor Swift!

    Kelly Clarkson is fucking amazing and she is the second best pop star out besides Godney.

    I don't care what she does as long as it sounds good and wasn't something forced by RCA.

    She obviously isn't that interested in pop success or she'd be in the gym and trying to change her image.

    I;ll drag/snatch/slay/destroy anybody who comes after Kelegend Clarksonofgod's wig.

    The Prophet is clearly off his wig. This broad needs to take the chip off her shoulder and let Max Martin Auto-Tune her strained thong into dust. The biggest disappointment with her last album is that there was only one "My Life Would Suck Without You" and not 12.

    Let's face it, she peaked with Breakaway. Success went to her head, she got self-indulgent waaay too early in her career, and now her best work is behind her. The best Max Martin/ Dr. Luke et al. can do for her now is conjure up faint reminders of what made people like her once upon a time, and since she HATES those things, she can't even put them across convincingly anymore.

    She needs to leave her label so that she can be free to make the music she really feels. Then she can sell it on cdbaby, and I won't ever have to hear it.
