It's Official: Lady Gaga's "Born This Way Is The 1000th #1 Single On The 'Billboard' Hot 100

Thank Christ it wasn't something trashy like Pitbull's "Hey Baby (Drop It To The Floor)." The full Hot 100 will be published tomorrow.

"Born This Way" makes Lady Gaga's third #1 single (after "Just Dance" and "Poker Face"), and the 1000th different single to top the Hot 100 since the chart began in August 1958.

Billboard has compiled a chronological list of every #1 in Hot 100 history. Get it here.

    This makes me so happy.

I can't think of a better song at the moment that deserves this accolade.

The 1,000th #1 song in the United States of America is literally the first AND only song that prominently uses the words "Gay" "Lesbian" "Transgendered" and "Bi".

If people would move past the "omg this is so unoriginal" and "this sounds like ____ and ___ and ____", maybe they'd notice that this song is about positivity and loving yourself and out of all the other "positive" "It gets better" songs to come out lately (Raise your glass, we r who we r and fireworks), is the only one to so directly address a marginalized group of minorities in the world.

    Okay, I'm done!

Right on, Joshua. There's a real "rightness" and moving quality to this being #1000. I'm definitely glad it wasn't some junk like "Tonight I'm F***ing You."

And, Robbie, thanks for all the fun reads. Here's to the next 1,000.

This can't succeed as a matter of fact, that is exactly what I believe.
