Take That's "Love Love" Sounds Like Take That's "Kidz"

I heart Take That — so much so that I'm off to see them perform in Milan in two months (from tomorrow). So I was highly curious to hear how the full version of the band's X-Men: First Class jam "Love Love" would sound.

The single was released in the UK today, and basically it comes off as a retread of their previous Progress offering "Kidz." (No, I don't get what happened to the marketing of the album's singles post-"The Flood," either.)

That said, there's a bit more of a hook here than "Kidz" had, at least. I'd say this, with its dueling Gary Barlow/Robbie Williams vocals, is an improvement over that one.

The band is set to perform "Love Love" tonight for the UK's National Movie Awards. The single is currently #6 on iTunes in Take That's home country.

I'll tell you what was wrong with Take That's promotion past "The Flood".

    a. Taking forever to release the follow-up single.

    b. Not releasing songs like "Wait" or "Eight Letters"

    c. Having virtually zero promotion in Asia.

Playing "the flood" over and over again at every TV show could convey the fact that there is not a whole lot more to showcase. It's a shame but "Progress" really is the band's best album since "Nobody Else" or maybe even "Everything Changes". These guys are lucky they're loaded and that's probably why they don't see the missed opportunity this new album is.

Well, the album did sell two million copies in the UK alone, but I agree that the singles were bungled.

I can't BELIEVE the crime of "Happy Now" not even going Top 40 there (only got to #52). Of course, it was rushed as a Comic Relief single only three weeks after "Kidz" flopped at #28.

Blah. Better luck with "Love Love."

i quite like it. it fits in nicely with Progress, but isn't the most brilliant track in the world. Once again Robbie gurned his way through the performance on tv which makes me partially dread the tour!!
