Steps "Dancing Queen": Listen

Steps new hits set, Ultimate Steps, is out on Monday (October 10) in the UK. And going by these pages from the inlay booklet that the band's site posted, it looks like someone made a boo boo and mish-mashed the writing credits for their chart-topping 1998 single "Heartbeat" (should be Jackie James, not Jacky — and not the Gibb brothers) and their #2 2001 cover of "Chain Reaction" (that one is the Gibbs).

Also, "Chain Reaction" was produced by the Metro guys, not Topham/Twigg/Waterman.

Ah, well — also online now is the one "new" song on the collection: a cover of ABBA's "Dancing Queen," which as we see is produced by Eliot Kennedy and James Jaywardena. Then again, given the mentioned botched credits, who really knows?

Not bad, but given the 11,948 covers of this already out there, I still maintain that this was pointless (though it's good to hear hottie Lee Latchford-Evans finally getting some vocals).

That said, I've got fingers crossed for new material from Steps!

I don't know why their reunion single was not a new song. I mean really. It was ample opportunity for a sappy song about repairing bridges and friendships never ending and how the time is now or never.

DQ is a great song, but this cover is unexceptional at best :|

My friend in Wales texted me earlier today to let me know he had seen Claire eating a sausage roll.

These credits are shocking. The production credits are out of whack, the writing credits are out of whack, and unless UMG like to be associated with the BMG Publishing name, the publishing credits haven't been updated to reflect current assignment.
