UK Chart: Eight-legged 'X Factor' Ho Machine Little Mix Fire "Cannonball" Up The Chart

Having not watched the UK version of The X Factor at all this year — nor the US one, for that matter (sorry, kids —still burnt out after American Idol and The Voice) — imagine my disappointment upon finding out Little Mix's "Cannonball" isn't a cover of The Breeders' jam.

Oh, well — their rendition of this 2002 Damien Rice dirge is #1, and it's looking like their home country will be spared having this mind-numbing trash be the top single when the new chart arrives on Christmas Day.

Another X Factor alum, Leona Lewis, pops in at #8 with her cover of Johnny Cash's version of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt" from Leona's The Hurt EP. Can you believe it's now been five years since Leona won that dog and pony act The X Factor and subsequently topped the chart in 2006 at Christmas with her winner's song "A Moment Like This"? Time flies when your floppin'.

The UK Top 10:

1. "Cannonball" - Little Mix *new* *1 week*
2. "Paradise" - Coldplay
3. "Dance With Me Tonight" - Olly Murs
4. "Dedication To My Ex" - Lloyd feat. Andre 3000 & Lil Wayne
5. "We Found Love" - Rihanna feat. Calvin Harris
6. "Good Feeling" - Flo Rida
7. "Levels" - Avicii
8. "Hurt" - Leona Lewis *new*
9. "Lego House" - Ed Sheeran
10. "5 O'Clock" - T-Pain feat. Wiz Khalifa & Lily Allen
