Kylie Minogue's 'Fever' Turns 10
No, I can't believe it, either, but Kylie Minogue's Fever came out 10 years ago this week here in the States. I wrote up a retrospective look back at the album for Idolator's Backtracking series, much like the piece I did earlier this month on Spice Girls' debut LP Spice.
My first memories of Fever are having my pal Moogaboo surprise me with an import copy in fall 2001 (it was released in Europe that October) and playing it over and over and over when I worked at the E! channel.
I bought it the day it came out in the US and started playing it all over again through the spring. I even skipped work one Tuesday and waited in line at 5 a.m. so I could get tickets to see her on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno.
It also very much reminds me of the period when I left E! and started working at Instinct (March 2002). But more on that in a bit.

Oh god, I remember getting this album when I was a senior in high school. I honestly just couldn't get enough of Kylie at the time. After this I picked up Light Years at, I think it was a Sam Goode and got hooked. My love of Kylie waned a bit during the body language period but picked right back up again with "I Believe In You" a song I listened to over and over again. And then she released the crack that I still keep smoking Aphrodite. I honestly can't believe it's been 10 years.

I had just come back from living in Australia for three years and rediscovered Kylie in a big way when I was there. I couldn't understand why she'd never become a star in the U.S. In 2002, I knew CGYOOMH was breaking through but I knew it was for real when I heard it on the Top 40 station at a Gold's Gym in St. Petersburg, FL. She'd made it!
GREAT Idolator piece.

Oh, Bejeebus. I love FEVER. It was the first time I was exposed to her in album form. I knew of her due to my Brit Pop addiction and felt like I knew her since I always read about her on Top of the Pops magazine.
Fever is still so catchy and body-moving. I remember being a freshman in high school and basically singing along to this all. day. long.
Fever sure has got me good...
