The Wanted Cover Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris"

Below is a nice video of The Wanted doing an acoustic cover of Goo Goo Dolls' 1998 City Of Angels soundtrack hit "Iris". It was taped during a promotional visit to San Diego's Slacker Radio recently. You're eyes are not deceiving you, either — that's really Tom and Siva playing guitar.

When I saw these guys on their small US tour in January, they busted out this cover on stage. (It was the B-side to "Glad You Came" overseas.)

Meanwhile, it appears as if The Wanted's upcoming self-titled US debut release (out April 24) has been downgraded from an album to an EP.

There is "Deluxe Version", which has 10 tracks, which essentially makes it an album.

The "EP" is only being released to whet appetites for their second album, "Battleground", which will be released this fall in the U.S.

The Wanted's spin factory downgraded the album to an "EP" in fear that its charting would pale in comparison to One Direction's (true story) album performance. Besides the fact that 1D seems to have stolen their thunder, the fear was largely based on the fact that half the tracks had been around for over a year and a half now and the relative lack of strength of the new songs they recorded (most of the new tracks they recorded were cut and deemed "average).

For the Anonymous poster above me - Battleground is NOT being released this fall (other than an unofficial introduction onto ITunes, but that doesnt count); however their new International album (US/UK release) should be ready for a late November release date.

The whole 1D vs. TW jockeying for position story has been fascinating.

I wonder what will happen if their new single that's released on Tuesday does really well.

I'm Team 1D. That album is fantastic.

Interesting! I have to say, while I like "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Stole My Heart" off the 1D album, they pale in comparison to "Glad You Came". That said, I've yet to hear a song from The Wanted that is as good.

Sorry, Second-rate Anonymous, but "Battleground" will be released in the U.S. this fall. Will it have the same UK track-listing? No, of course not. It will include some of the new songs The Wanted has been recording for the U.S. edition.

The reason for the delay of their U.S. debut album is that indeed, all the new songs they recorded for the U.S. edition were deemed average at best, including a duet with Rihanna. So they went back to the recording studio to record more new songs, hence why their proper debut album has been pushed to the fall, and why the E.P. is being released in the meantime.

This is taken from the Billboard article that Dluv mentioned on another post:

"The appearance comes in anticipation of the April 24 release of the Wanted's self-titled debut, a seven-track EP arriving on Island Def Jam and complemented by a 10-song deluxe edition. The group's full-length debut, Battleground (Island Def Jam), which appeared in the United Kingdom in November and is slated to arrive stateside this fall, is certified gold there and has already spawned two No. 1s on the U.K. chart."

So yeah, "Battleground" is being released in the U.S.

Fools! It's obvious that The Wanted downgraded to an EP because Madge's MDNA is dominating the chartz, her greatest triumph, the queen is back, kadslgjadsfblkajdflgjadsfjglakdsbldfskhblk;ahgl;ksghag*stroke*
