Shadow Dancing

I've been on a total Gibb spiral since the passing of Bee Gees' member Robin Gibb on Sunday. And it's caused me to to go back and find a new appreciation for the many wondrous jams of Andy Gibb.

Andy's greatest hits had been out of print for a long time in the US, and Warner just rereleased it last fall for under $10. I had forgotten how great some of his songs were, and they really belong with all those other great BG records. You really couldn't escape him in 1978-79, and it's a real shame what happened to him. Watch your back Barry.

Other good Andy songs were Everlasting Love, Warm Ride and After Dark. Barry co-wrote all of those songs and all of his hits. The one song Andy wrote on his own which was pretty good was Flowing Rivers.

Andy was big in the late 70s, but we didn't even have videos or the internet back then. For such a photogenic guy, he would have been even bigger. Sad that though he had reportedly kicked the cocaine habit and was working on a comeback, the damage already done to his heart did him in.
