US Chart Roundup: Ylvis, The Last True Artist

Sometimes you forget what an outright sausage fest the pop charts are these days. Lorde, now at #1 (for a second week) with "Royals," is only the fourth female to top the Billboard Hot 100 this year, following Pink ("Just Give Me A Reason"), Katy Perry ("Roar") and Girl (?) Whore With Tongue ("Chain Between My Snatch"). Really, I just hope "The Fox" gets to the top and stays there for six years. Ylvis is like the savior of rock and roll.

Elsewhere, thanks to all the views of Britney Spears' "Work Bitch" video, the song has rebounded from the jowls of flopdom in its third week, as it jumps from #41 to #13. Again, nice video, but I can't imagine this will.i.am-tainted trash will stick around long, unless America has truly lost it. Oh, wait...

A bit further down, Katy Perry's latest Prism buzz single "Walking On Air" debuts at #34.
That classy track is still my jam. I only wish the full album was full of such sexy material, a la Alphabeat's The Spell/The Beat Is...

Anyway, here's the latest, foxes.

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Royals" - Lorde *2 weeks*
2. "Roar" - Katy Perry
3. "Wrecking Ball" - Miley Cyrus
4. "Wake Me Up!" - Avicii
5. "Hold On, We're Going Home" - Drake feat. Majid Jordan
6. "The Fox" - Ylvis
7. "Holy Grail" - Jay-Z feat. Justin Timberlake
8. "Blurred Lines" - Robin Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell
9. "Applause" - Lady Gaga
10. "Summertime Sadness" - Lana Del Rey & Cedric Gervais
