My Review Of Lady Gaga's 'ARTPOP'

If you're up for taking in a few hundred words on the subject, I reviewed Lady Gaga's new album ARTPOP over at Idolator.

This is not a good album and by no means cements her in the right direction of continuous pop stardom and creative development. This is an album made for the now. Forgettable. Do what U want is the best song. 2/5

I have to agree with Alesso ... wholeheartedly - I thought it was flat and the lyrics ludicrous. I think she totally missed the mark - no wonder she fired her manager! She'll blame him!

The whole album was a bit of a samey mess. Gaga's vocals bordered on amateurish and the production was extremely tired. There some brights spots though. "sexx dreams" and "do what u want" shine but the rest of the album (much like previous album "born this way") is short on excitement with many tracks just being repetitive exercises. Sometimes it's about more about girth than length.

It is all just too much- what happened to the promise of her stripped down radio station performances? The simple yet catchy dance music? Now her stuff sounds like she did not only throw in the kitchen sink but the whole damn kitchen. Look- she's what, under 30? We've got (based on say McCartney) 40 more years of her? She needs to settle down for a moment, regroup and apply her self to her art- we all know she is capable. This album is just an effin mess. Sorry.
