US Chart Roundup: Ke$ha Lands Third #1 Single With "Timber" & I Helped Pay For Her Rehab

Dear god, I finally just caved in and downloaded "Timber." But I only did it because I feel bad for Ke$ha and I'm hoping that, as she's one of the 11 (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) writers credited on the song, at least 2ยข of the buck twenty-nine I paid will go toward her toilet paper fund while she's locked up in rehab for the next month.

Anyway, "Timber" is now the new #1 song in the country. No surprise there, as it was stuck at #2 for the entire four-week run "The Monster" had at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. "Timber" has the distinction of being the first single to simultaneously be #1 in both the UK and the US in 2014. Other countries the country-dance trash jam has topped the charts in: Sweden, Austria, Germany, The Netherlands and Canada.

"Timber" is also Ke$ha's third #1 single on the Hot 100, following "Tik Tok" and "We R Who We R." Both of those American standards reached the top in 2010.

By the way, I've now successfully pulled the plug on the part of my brain that recognizes "Timber" is a collaboration, and I can no longer remember who the horrible, slithering troll is that the song actually belongs to.

The only other movement worth mentioning this week is John Newman's "Love Me Again," which zips up from #62 to #59. Meanwhile, his debut album Tribute was released in the States this week and is currently perched at #6 on iTunes. "Love Me Again" made Chart Rigger's 10 Best Pop Singles Of 2013 list last month, and you can catch John Newman's performance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon here.

Ciao, baby.
