UK Chart Roundup: Sam Smith Makes Some Money

If 2013 was John Newman's year then 2014 will likely belong to Sam Smith. The 21-year-old crooner lands his first hit as a lead artist this week with "Money On My Mind," following his well-timed BRITs Critics' Choice award. The song goes in at #1 on the UK chart, thus ending the four-week reign of Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne's "Rather Be." The last time Smith saw such heights was as a vocalist on Naughty Boy's single "La La La," which topped the chart last spring.

Over on the album chart, a slew of BRITs winners fly back into the Top 10 — like Arctic Monkeys, Disclosure and Rudimental — leaving Katy B's Little Red to get knocked down from #1 to #8.

The UK Top 10:

1. "Money On My Mind" - Sam Smith *new* *1 week*
2. "Happy" - Pharrell Williams
3. "Rather Be" - Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne
4. "Say Something" - A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera *new*
5. "Stay The Night" - Zedd feat. Hayley Williams
6. "Dark Horse" - Katy Perry feat. Juicy J
7. "Shot Me Down" - David Guetta feat. Skylar Grey
8. "Timber" - Pitbull feat. Ke$ha
9. "Crying For No Reason" - Katy B
10. "Dibby Dibby Sound" - DJ Fresh Vs. Jay Fay feat. Ms. Dynamite
