UK Chart Roundup: Kylie Minogue's "Into The Blue" Just Misses The Top 10

The good news: Kylie's "Into The Blue" has debuted at #12 on the official UK chart this week. That's her highest chart placing as lead artist since "Get Outta My Way," the second single off previous studio album Aphrodite, made it to the same position in 2010. (Following that, the Kylie-featuring Taio Cruz single "Higher" peaked at #8 the same year.)

The so-so news: This is only the third time a lead single off a Kylie Minogue album missed the Top 10 in the UK, the first being when "Word Is Out" from Let's Get To It peaked at #16 in 1991, followed by "Some Kind Of Bliss" off Impossible Princess scraping its way to #22 in 1997.

Here's how all of the lead single off Kylie's albums have fared in the UK:

1988: "I Should Be So Lucky" (Kylie), #1
1989: "Hand On Your Heart" (Enjoy Yourself), #1
1990: "Better The Devil You Know" (Rhythm Of Love), #2
1991: "Word Is Out" (Let's Get To It), #16
1994: "Confide In Me" (Kylie Minogue), #2
1997: "Some Kind Of Bliss" (Impossible Princess), #22
2000: "Spinning Around" (Light Years), #1
2001: "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" (Fever), #1
2003: "Slow" (Body Language), #1
2007: "2 Hearts" (X), #4
2010: "All The Lovers" (Aphrodite), #3
2014: "Into The Blue" (Kiss Me Once), #12

At any rate, Kylie has yet to do a live television performance of "Into The Blue," and given her current stint as judge on The Voice in the UK, surely that event must be coming? (Though, honestly, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have had her belt the out on the show last weekend.)

Kiss Me Once goes on sale in the UK tomorrow, and in the US on Tuesday (March 18).

I'm not sure she is allowed to perform one of her songs on The Voice UK because of rules regarding the BBC and promotion/advertising... I might be wrong though.

ITB was only available to purchase as a single for the first half of the week on iTunes. Up until it was deleted it was tracking at no 7.

Translation: Rocnation want UK fans to buy the album and don't care about singles.

Yikes, even Pixie Lott's dreadful new single made it into the Top Ten. I thought she was pretty much past it as well...

Yes! What Anonymous said re: the single being removed from iTunes. So frustrating.

Also (re: what you said about it being the third time her lead single missed the top ten, fourth if you count What Kind of Fool from the Greatest Hits), it's her most successful least successful lead off single ever!
