US Chart Roundup: Hell Has 'Frozen' Over

I've somehow managed to steer clear of the entire Frozen phenomenon. I'm not quite sure how that happened, either, because there have been at least three or four weekends over the past three months where I said, "Okay, I'm just gonna finally go see this trash at the theater." Yet it never happened. The soundtrack has spent five non-consecutive weeks at #1. Still haven't seen it. The movie wins two Oscars. Nope.

So here we are with the Academy Award-winning "Let It Go" cracking the Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at #9 this week. I like to think part of that is because of John Travolta butchering cast member Idina Menzel's name on stage at the Oscars, just before she belted out the Frozen hit. Such a cherished television moment.

Interestingly, the version of "Let It Go" performed by Demi Lovato — aka the one originally intended for radio — only peaked at #38, and currently sits way down at #61. Sorry, doll — they can't all be "Give Your Heart A Break."

Elsewhere on the chart, Coldplay's new single "Magic," from forthcoming album Ghost Stories, debuts at #24, while Phillip Phillips' "Raging Fire" enters at #58.

So anyway, maybe I'll go see Frozen once and for all this weekend. Or probably not...

The U.S. Top 10:

1. "Happy" - Pharrell Williams *3 weeks*
2. "Dark Horse" - Katy Perry feat. Juicy J
3. "All Of Me" - John Legend
4. "Talk Dirty" - Jason Derulo feat. 2 Chainz
5. "Pompeii" - Bastille
6. "Team" - Lorde
7. "Drunk In Love" - Beyonce feat. Jay Z
8. "Counting Stars" - OneRepublic
9. "Let It Go" - Idina Menzel
10. "Timber" - Pitbull feat. Ke$ha
